Design the sustainable future
At the “Sustainable Future” edition of the Make-a-ton, we encourage engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs to design and prototype innovative solutions for a better sustainable world, focused on water, waste, forest, oceans & health. The Make-a-ton is open for both students and professionals.
Top 50 entries from Stage 1 will be invited to enter Stage 2 of the Make-a-ton, where they will get access to apps from Dassault Systemes’s 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to design, engineer and test their products. These 50 Teams will receive mentorship from top experts in business development, product development, digital fabrication from around the world. At the end of Stage 2, teams will have to submit their virtual models (3D CAD) for review. Please Note: We are looking for products that are at the proof of concept stage “TRL3” in the NASA ́s TRLs (technology readiness level index).
Take your product to the next level
Out of the 50 teams in Stage 2, 12 final teams will be selected to present their projects to a jury and will compete for the Top 3 positions.

Top 3 Winners will get access to a digital fabrication center and a fund of $25,000 in total, to help manufacture their ideas. The sole purpose of this fund is to help with prototyping support of the winning teams. Final prototypes of the Top 3 Winners will be showcased at 3DEXPERIENCE WORLD 2022, the annual user conference of Dassault Systemes.

One representative each of the 3 winning teams will be flown to Atlanta for 3DEXPERIENCE World (6-9 February 2022).

3DEXPERIENCE World brings a vibrant community of designers, engineers, entrepreneurs and business leaders together to learn, engage, share knowledge and drive innovation, around our 3DEXPERIENCE WORKS portfolio, for our SOLIDWORKS customers.

What do I need to enter the competition?

You need to have a manufacturable 3D CAD version of your product in any 3D CAD software that can export in .mallas, .obj, .stl, .dwg formats and upload into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Do I need to know how to use solidworks?

Yes, it will give you a great advantage in the make-a-ton.

What are TRL's (Technology readiness levels)?

Technology readiness levels (TRLs) are a method for estimating the maturity of technologies during the acquisition phase of a program, developed at NASA during the 1970s. The use of TRLs enables consistent, uniform discussions of technical maturity across different types of technology.
